This handmade 18ct yellow and white gold, Sapphire, and Diamond ‘Split Wave’ ladies engagement and wedding ring was made back in 1996 and came back to my studio after over 25 years! Happy to say the ring has lasted well so far and only came back for a resize.
My ‘Split Wave’ design originated out of the idea of combining engagement and wedding rings as an alternative to the traditional 2 rings and symbolises the journey taken by 2 people when they choose to spend their lives together.
The beginning of the ‘Split Wave’ features a gorgeous Australian blue Sapphire approx. 0.85cts, from there the ‘Wave’ slowly tapers together till the both the yellow and white gold meet at the back of the band. The majority of the ring is made in white while the 18ct yellow gold is randomly set with a total of 6 white Diamonds. Due to the nature of this design and considering the white gold isn’t rhodium plated I decided to use a yellow gold section for the resize and by having the piece put in at an angle it creates an illusion that it belongs in the ring and is a part of the design.
