A client came to the workshop with an heirloom piece of jewellery that had been passed down from his grandmother to celebrate his engagement. The ring had a traditional ‘Victorian’ Diamond cluster with a halo of 16 round brilliant cut Diamonds surrounding the 2.2ct the featured centre stone which is a significant South African mined old cut Diamond. Initially the client wanted to use all the stones in the original ring to make the new engagement ring, however after recognising the craftsmanship of the design I suggested removing the centre Diamond. And began to create a new ring in a style that was more suited to the bride to be. This saved the original ring from being remodelled and it’s due to have a new gemstone set, this has allowed the client to continue his grandmother’s ring through it’s journey through the family.
